Bracing

The use of cabling for a tree is a commonly employed technique to ensure the tree's stability and safety, particularly in situations where the tree shows signs of structural weakness or when it is exposed to unfavorable environmental conditions.

.

Cabling involves installing cables or rods that connect the branches of a tree to each other or anchor the tree to a fixed point, such as another tree or a solid support. This technique is primarily used for several reasons:

Why cable a tree?

Strengthen a weakened tree: When a tree has a weakened structure due to damage, disease, or asymmetric growth, cabling can help it maintain its integrity. This reduces the risk of branch or trunk breakage, especially during storms or high winds.

Preserve a valuable tree: Some trees, due to their age, size, or historical or aesthetic significance, are valuable. Rather than cutting them down when they become unstable, cabling offers a solution to prolong their life and preserve their value.

Protect property and people: A tree at risk of breaking or falling can pose a danger to people nearby or to property, such as houses, cars, or power lines. Cabling helps minimize these risks by stabilizing the tree.

Our Approach

Professional Assessment: Our experts evaluate the condition of the tree, its location, and potential risks to determine the most appropriate felling method.

Environmental Respect: We are committed to minimizing the impact of our operations on the environment and to promoting tree replanting whenever possible.

Modern Techniques: We use state-of-the-art techniques and equipment to ensure safe and efficient felling.

• When you entrust us with collection and cleanup, nothing is wasted. The chips will primarily serve as bedding for cows, be used as mulch, or be turned into compost. The wood will be converted into firewood or otherwise processed. At arbos.ca, nothing is sent to the landfill.

Here is a list of the services we offer for cabling:

Synthetic cable: The synthetic cable has the advantage of moving with the tree, allowing the tree to grow while continuing to develop its reaction wood. As the tree moves, it produces wood to strengthen itself.

Steel cable: Requires less maintenance than synthetic cable but offers less flexibility.

Weight reduction: Weight reduction is essential for any cabling. It ensures a better chance of success for the tree.

Steel rod: Used in conjunction with a cable, the steel rod is mainly employed to reinforce a crack in the trunk.
